Nonprofit organizations (NPOs) are essential to our society, educating and providing goods and services to those in need. Their advances are made possible by board members, staff, and volunteers who lend their hands, hearts, and knowledge to further vital missions, from social services to healthcare, disaster relief to the environment, and so much more.
Expertise is required, not only in the program being provided, but in business management, fundraising, and marketing. Every input matters. It's rewarding, yet challenging work, with many stakeholders to consider and inform. And once set on a course of action, it can be difficult to change direction, even if that's what's best for the mission.
Change requires setting measurable goals, making a plan with a process to get there, and building consensus. A good plan brings people together, lightens loads, and clears paths. Sometimes, it takes a fresh perspective to see the way.
The Plans
For over 10 years, I planned successful fundraising events for dozens of organizations, working with board members, donors, staff, and volunteers. The “Master Event Plan” I created for each one was a living document, an essential guide and ongoing resource, all in one.
My role as a hands-on consultant gave me a unique perspective on the challenges that nonprofit organizations face. Now, I help small- to medium-sized organizations develop their plans for growth, and I can lead or support putting those plans into action, if needed.
